| Balbriggan’s 9th Arts Festival will run from October 25 to November 1, with a wide range of music, theatre and literary events – some of which free of charge - taking place throughout the town.
In addition to exhibitions from local and professional artists, traditional music and a bi-lingual walk led by Green Party Leader Trevor Sargent T.D., this year’s programme will also reflect Balbriggan’s diverse population. From a multi-cultural Sunday at the Bracken Court Hotel, to an indoor circus for all the family, to music gigs such as the explosive Boxtie Band and Eurovision song contest winner Charlie McGettigan, spectators will really be spoilt for choice. Not to be missed are also the festival lecture, a writers’ workshop and the short story competition final.
The festival programme will be launched to the public on Thursday, September 28 at 8pm in the Bracken Court Hotel. The hotel will also be the location of the ticket office, which will officially open on Monday, October 3. In addition, phone and credit card purchases will be available by calling 086 3062968 and tickets will be sold at most of the festival’s events.

Heritage Island, in association with Theatre Forum, has launched Irelands Cultural Explorer, an innovative new website and brochure featuring 130 culture and heritage venues throughout Ireland.
The new site, www.irelandvisitordiscounts.com, brings together for the first time a selection of Irelands leading visitor attractions, festivals, theatres and traditional music venues, including such household names as Trinity College Dublin, Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Abbey and Gate Theatres, Tower Museum in Derry, Guinness Jazz Festival, and Ragús Irish Dance Show.
Visitors to the website can avail of substantial discounts on admission price by printing the free Discount Pass and resenting it at any of the featured venues. The pass offers potential savings of over €400.
